Biography

Ligia Pena, Senior Associate

adrienneprofileAdrienne Smith has been working and volunteering in the non profit sector for over 4 years in fundraising, communications, research, and design. As the Development Coordinator for Apathy is Boring from 2007 to 2009, she was responsible for creating and managing partnerships, researching and writing grant proposals, and implementing the annual campaign. During her tenure, she helped raise over $50 000 of in-kind and financial support for the organization.

Having served as the chair of the fundraising committee for a Montreal literacy organization in addition to working closely with the boards of several non profits, Adrienne has experience with strategic planning, organizational development, and related administration.

The publication of her report on elder abuse for the International Federation on Ageing, the production of several fundraising special events, and the coordination of an annual photography contest are among the high points of her career thus far.

Her educational background includes a bachelor of arts from McGill University in anthropology and women's studies; she is currently completing the Fundraising Certificate Program at Vanier College and has attended numerous workshops and community training sessions related to fundraising and capacity building. In September 2009, Adrienne will start a Masters degree in Knowledge Management at McGill University.
