Hello and welcome to Diversa‘s on-line home. I’m Ligia Peña, President of Diversa and it’s my absolute pleasure to welcome you to our site.
With more than 10 years of experience in fundraising and communications, I have had the pleasure to collaborate with a variety of charitable and non-profit organizations ranging from the community to international development groups.
I love all aspects of philanthropy and I want you to love it too!
Diversa’s motto is quite simple: “This is a No Cookie-Cutter approach Zone!”. This means that we will sit with you to learn about what your organization has been doing, what are your successes, what needs improvement and where do you want to take your organization in the future.
Based on those discussions, we will collaboratively establish what solutions Diversa can offer your organization and we will present you with a proposal.
Why I do it
I started getting personally involved with charities at an early age, but worked in the private, public and para-public sectors for over ten years before deciding to build a career in the charitable sector doing communications and fundraising and then coordinating a capital campaign.
During that time, as I started noticing that small charities doing great work were grossly under-served by knowledgeable professionals, I decided branch out on my own. Specializing in strategic and development planning, fundraising, campaigns, communications and training, I set out to offer personalized, hands-on services to small and medium-sized charities.
I believe that education and know-how is paramount to success, so in addition to my consultancy work, I also teach workshops and lecture to students enrolled in CEGEP de Saint-Laurent‘s degree in Philanthropic Management. I am also the bilingual trainer for The Charities File managed by the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation at Carleton University.
I also hold the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation – one of 25 in Québec.
